The bio

Scooter M. - An enthusiast who is genuinely into this. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the math. No lab coat, no test kitchen, and no pizza stones in my cupboard that a manufacturer sent me.

Why the framing is interest rather than expertise

Because it is the description that is true. This site launched in 2026 and so did the byline, and a claim to years behind a stove would be an invention - the easiest kind for a reader to doubt and a competitor to check.

Everything on this site is compiled, computed and cited rather than experienced. That is a real thing to be good at and it is a different thing from having tested a dozen stones. Conflating the two is what most of this category does, and it is the reason so many of the numbers in it do not survive being checked.

What that means for what you read here

Every specification carries the page it came from. Not "we found", not "research shows". A link to the maker's or the retailer's own listing, so you can go and read it.

Every derived number shows its working. The material constants, the model, the assumption inside it, and a worked example you can re-run on a calculator - all of it on the methodology page.

Where a maker publishes nothing, the page says so. There are product cards on this site whose weight row reads "not published by the maker, and we will not supply one". Filling that gap would be the easy thing to do and it is exactly the thing this byline exists not to do.

Where the answer is to buy nothing, that is the answer. Several pages here conclude that the fix is a longer preheat, less sauce, or the pan already in your cupboard.

Corrections

If a figure here does not check out, that is worth an email. Which page, which number, and what you think it should be - info@peelandflame.com, or the contact form. Reply within five business days, and where you are right the page gets corrected with a dated note on it.

The full list of claims this byline has banned itself from making is public on the editorial policy.
